New England Regional Soil Science Certificate Program

The New England Regional Soil Science Certificate Program (SSCP) provides an organized mechanism for people with varied backgrounds working in wetland delineation, site suitability assessment for sewage disposal, application of sludge and ash on agricultural lands, or other related areas to meet minimum academic requirements for soil scientists. It is a cooperative program among the six land-grant universities in New England, administered by the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The certificate is awarded upon successful completion of 15 semester credits of soil science, distributed among various areas of the field. Courses may be taken at any of the sponsoring institutions.
