New England Council of Presidents; New England's Public Land Grant Universities

Agreement to Consider Regional Resources When Considering Proposals to Implement or Eliminate University Programs

The statement below was developed by the chief academic officers and officially endorsed by the Council of Presidents of the New England Land-Grant Universities at their May 1, 1991 meeting:

Because the New England Land-Grant Universities have a special commitment to serve their states and the New England region, it is appropriate to consider regional resources before making decisions for program enhancement or reduction. Therefore, each of the New England Land-Grant Universities has agreed to consider the availability of, and access to, other similar programs in the region as a part of any proposal to implement or eliminate a program. This information will supplement, but not supplant, other information presented as a part of the normal program review processes of the university.
